Sierra Leone Foundation For New Democracy (SLFND) works in partnership with communities to build the foundation for citizens of all ages to deliberate and enact new, non-adversarial alternatives that nurture democratic relationships and decision making among and across individuals, families, institutions, and the environment.

CIRCLE TRIPS

 
SLFND's Dovalema Early Childhood Co-op answers the need for childcare services in village communities by co-creating an indigenous, culturally-specific, environmentally-focused, healing centered compound and curriculum to supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of participating children ages 2-5. Beyond direct childcare services for participating families, Dovalema serves as a hub where all village families gather to gain greater understanding and advocacy skills related to preventive health, child development nonviolent discipline, child labor, and abuse.

MASS CRITICAL LITERACY

 
SLFND is developing its Social Enterprise Co-ops in direct response to the extractive and exploitative environmental and labor practices that have impoverished Sierra Leone, Africa, and much of the world at large. They constitute an attempt for Sierra Leone to free itself—village by village—from the conditionalities imposed by international development aid, whose administration grew directly out of colonial offices.

Walk For A Child aims to live out the core principals of SLNFD through our expeditions in which we provide youth the opportunity to explore topics of injustice  through local community engagement, group reflection, and traveling on foot village to village giving the opportunity to our deepen our sense of understanding and connection to one another.
